Heneral Luna is an independent film that was set during the Philippine-American war, a short-tempered Filipino general faces an enemy more formidable than the American army: his own treacherous countrymen.
Despite being an Independent film, the film showed excellent scenes. The acting, script, production, editing, directing and cinematography was superbly done. The actors greatly portrayed their characters. The lines had a huge impact on the audience and were remembered like, "Wala na tayong panahon para sa mga bagay na hindi natin kayang panindigan", "Para kayong mga birheng naniniwala sa pag-ibig ng isang puta", and the famous article "Artikulo uno: Ang hindi sumunod sa utos ng punong heneral ay tatanggalan ng ranggo at ipapapatay ng walang paglilitis sa hukumang militar". The set, costumes, props all that was seen in the movie are well showed and displayed. The sequence was properly and awesomely done. The angles are no doubt the best cinematography I have seen yet it Philippine movies. Despite having a low budget for the film, they managed to have a film that's worth remembering.
Heneral Luna is an exceptional film that sets the new standard for Philippine cinema. It's a film worth watching and worth sharing to others. As an avid fan of Indie films, I salute the crews for creating one of the best indie films that I have watched. This is a movie that must be seen by all ages. It's a great way to connect to our roots, our history.
I tried to read all the posts on Heneral Luna on his birthday last Oct. 29 but there were just too many. I am glad you all enjoyed watching the movie.
