The journey of Mr.SoM 2015

Being part of this pageant did not felt like it's pageant, but more of a meeting of new friends. As the competition comes near, the bond that we had was getting stronger. No intimidation was formed and no competitiveness of the contestants were felt. We had fun and enjoyed every training, practices and rehearsals that we did. This event was a way for us to be together and had the chance to know each other.
An experience that was worth the sweat and the time.

On the first day of SoM, we were asked to be introduced and be recognized by the SoM students. We felt the pressure of being a part of this pageant, especially for me, a freshman. This was me and Arlo turn, the other representative of Marketing and Advertising.

On the day of the pageant, I had to attend the championship of men's volleyball for SoM week, for I am one of the players for our team, and the captain ball. Not only that I had to play, but also at the SAME TIME I had to attend the practice of positions later for the pageant. Imagine the stress and how my day already was tiring, but I did not felt the pressure yet for the later's pageant. After the game, I went to a room with one of the Asia Pacific Junior Marketing Association's key member, Paul Toledo, to assist and help me with the baggage of the other MA's contestants, then the other members of APJMA arrived. They tried to put on and asked me to try the suit that I will be wearing for the pageant later; thus, they were not satisfied, so they asked me to go home and pick up my other suit along with the ties and other long sleeves that I have. After that, I came back and had a little time to rest ; While resting, the door opened and there appeared APJMA my seniors, asking me to get myself prepared and ready.

This is the start. The night that it will all end, the sufferings, hardships, we all encountered during our rehearsals. The Pageant Night. I brought my high school friends with me along with my mom and my older sister. This is the first time my mom and my sister watched me compete for the pageant. (Hi mom!) As the program started, I just wanted to let this end and go home, for I am exhausted with the activities that I did in the morning. The theme wear started, I represented Libra and portrayed as the traditional weighing scale that balances justice. I knew that I will not get the award for best theme wear for I have not prepared for it; theme after wear, casual wear was the next. We then did a dance number showcased ourselves and our clothes, after that, we were lined up for the question and answer, and unfortunately, I pick the question I hated the most, but I managed to answer it anyway. Here comes the awarding for the casual wear and for the photogenic. I felt that I will not get the award for casual, After awarding for the casual, the photogenic was next, and unexpectedly, I was chosen for the award. I was surprised because I thought the other contestants was more appealing on the photo shoots that we had. After casual, we were asked to prepare for the formal, so we prepared ourselves. After preparing, we were asked to go to the back of the auditorium for our entrances, while waiting for our cue, I had some small talk with the other contestants and we just wanted to let the night end so we can go home and have some meal, we were all exhausted after all. Here comes our cue, each of us had our own entrances and did ramp , so after the ramp, we were asked to lined up for the awarding of the people's choice award, Mr. Blackwater and Ms. Careline, and for the best in formal wear. I was chosen for the Mr.Blackwater and the best in formal wear. After the awarding. We were asked to stay at the backstage to wait for the announcement of the final three, so I went down to my dressing room to place the awards that I received, I was then called to go upstairs for the announcement for the final three, as I went up, I discovered that they were already lined up on the stage, so I hurriedly went to the stage and lined up. I was chosen to be part of the final three, so we congratulated each other and went back to the dressing room to wait for our final question and answer. I was the first one to be asked, so I nervously went up to the stage and answered the question. After answering the question, I felt so relieved that this is the last part of the pageant, I can go home now after this. After the other contestants had their answers we were asked to be on the stage for the announcement for the Mr. and Ms. SoM. The crowd was loud and cheering for their own departments. Here comes the announcement, the Mr. and Ms. SoM 2015, "Contestant number three!" I was Mr.SoM 2015.and Ms. Cruz was Jennah Ms.SoM 2015 The MA retained their title for being the titleholder for being the Ms.SoM, because Ms. Michelle Herrera, the last Ms.SoAB 2014 was an MA student. Coincidentally, Ms. Jennah Cruz and I went to the same school when we were a high school student, so cheers to our alma mater!

I felt so honored and thankful to the people who supported and cheered for me, their efforts were not wasted. APJMA my family, my family, my MA151 buddies, high school my best buds, and here is the adventure that I had when I joined this pageant. Thank you for the memories and the new friends that I have.
