Parasyte

As an avid fan of Japanese Manga, Anime, and films, Having watching Parasyte can let me compare and distinguish the difference of the three adaptations. Manga and Anime were somehow the same when it comes to all aspect; however, in the live-action adaption, due to technology and film length, it was somehow different yet it still exhibited the main point and plot of Parasyte.

The 17-year-old Izumi Shinichi lives with his mother and father in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. One night, worm-like aliens called Parasytes invade Earth, taking over the brains of human hosts by entering through their ears or noses. One Parasyte attempts to crawl into Shinichi's ear while he sleeps, but fails since he is wearing headphones, and enters his body by burrowing into his arm instead, taking over his right hand and is named Migi. Because Shinichi was able to prevent Migi from traveling further up into his brain, both beings retain their separate intellect and personality. As the duo encounter other Parasytes, they capitalize on their strange situation and gradually form a strong bond, working together to survive.

If you have watched the Anime first before seeing the live action adaptation, you might be in doubt of the quality and the plot of the movie due to its changes in some of the situations and scenes.

In terms of film aspects, the quality of the directing and cinematography is quite good. The characters, especially the protagonist, exhibited well acting and gave justice to the character he was portraying. In terms of editing, It was well done and I didn't see scrappy editing done. The props were well seen and displayed, the goriness.

Overall, It's a film that's worth watching if you haven't seen the Anime.
