Last December 21, 2015, the English Resource Center held an inter class competition about public speaking with the theme of "Cult of Celebrities and Fantasies: A Filipino Obsession." Each class had 6 representatives that was chosen by the professor they had in Public Speaking class 2. I was one of the 6 representatives that were chosen by our professor, Sir. Deeno Lapira. It was an experience that was neither worth remembering nor forgetting. It was worth remembering due to being a representative of my class, but worth forgetting because of the topic that was given for I really don't have any idea on what to say for I am was not interested in the theme, but as a representative I had no choice but to deal with it and make my speech. You could say that i'm a procrastinator for I made my speech 2 days before the competition due to lack of interest and laziness. But with that 2 days period, I could say that it really was not enough to bring home to title.
During the competition I was excited to get it done for I want to release the pressure and stress already. During pre-elimination round, we were divided into three clusters, in that cluster there were two competitors that I saw potential in winning, both were in Tourism Management. I was not chosen to proceed to final round, and honestly speaking, I was glad. I don't want to say my speech in the auditorium where there are a lot of spectators, for my speech was too corny and I stuttered a little bit because I had not memorized my speech very well.
During the Final round There I already had my bet who would win the competition, and I was right. I was the representative of the Accountancy. I felt like I was a traitor for one of my block mates was there and I still put my bet on the other one, but he won the 1st runner up though. At the end of the day I was happy to experience that competition and If you ask me to join again, no.
